Dear Journal,

On my way to meet someone I’d never met before yesterday, I ended up getting stuck in traffic. Four lanes on the highway had been condensed to one due to an accident where a truck had spilled most of its contents. Approximately 3 minutes late, I pulled up only to find the party I was meeting; dealing with a flat tire!

Going into a new situation or venture can bring anxiety, nervousness or even cause our heart to race in a good way because we’re so excited! Though polar opposites, life happens to all of us…unbeknownst to all of us!
Fast forward to the meeting wrapping up an incredibly enlightening four hours of conversation because we ENJOYED our staunch differences!

Today you may find yourself interacting with someone different than you. Instead of being uncomfortable or put off by asymmetry of any kind, challenge yourself to appreciate it!

Life has a way of leveling the playing field; be via an accident or a flat tire but approaching the NEW and DIFFERENT in each brand new day, can be unexpectedly beautiful.

As a matter of fact, it can be BETTER.

Selah,

e

  1. Yes! That’s one reason I hate it when people seek “like-minded” people. Where’s the growth in having your own biases reinforced. Better to have them challenged. Better to listen. Better to learn.

  2. Definitely agree with you on this post, E. Especially working in retail, I don’t get to choose who I interact with. Have to always have an open mind and be able to (at times) see things (and learn) from a different perspective. Another brilliant write, sis.
