Said I was prettiest
When I was softest
While admitting the hurt
You inflicted hardened me
I’m a Gold Butterfly
Who forgot how to sing
You flew away with what
You prevented me from being
I’m a Gold Butterfly
Who forgot how to sing
I close my eyes
And see my voice
Open my spirit
Lest I make the wrong choice
I’m a Gold Butterfly
Releasing sounds
Liberating captives
Unlocking doors
Piercing barriers
Soaring
Warring
Writing and writing
And writing and writing
I’m still fighting
I’m a Gold Butterfly
And
I
Remember
How
To
Sing

dear e, don’t allow anything to hold you down. You were meant to fly. Gold can be deceiving and very heavy for a butterfly.
